What is the difference between WV’s Area Development Programs and grant projects? Print E-mail

An Area Development Program (ADP) is WV’s integrated approach to community development, emphasizing the process of community participation, ownership, and sustainability, while addressing the root causes of poverty. In Vietnam, ADPs operate within one administrative district of a province, providing a manageable area where activities can be effectively implemented. Program activities are tailored to the needs of a specific community and integrate activities from various sectors such as health, agriculture, education, capacity building, disability, micro-enterprise, economic assistance, and disaster relief and mitigation. By making a 12-15 year commitment to work in collaboration with the community, the lives of many people can be transformed.

Grant projects usually run for 2-4 years and are funded by foreign governments, multilateral organizations, private companies or individuals. They are often implemented in the same location as WVV’s ADPS, complimenting existing activities and fulfilling possible gaps in programming.
